What is Digital Detox?
Technology has made our lives a lot easier and transformed the way we think and do things. It literally dictates our life. The constant use of technology is taking a serious toll on our overall health and wellbeing. To curb total digital dependency, unplugging from your electronic devices for a period is ‘digital detox.’
How to Digital Detox:
- Get started by turning off notifications on your social media account or any other account that sends you notifications. Especially, in FB, Twitter, or Instagram you get plenty of notifications.
- Set aside certain time during the day to checkout your social media platforms and limit the time you will be spending like say 15-20 minutes.
- Use an actual alarm clock instead of your phone. Do not take your iPhone or android into the bed with you.
- When listening to music on your phone while working out, switch to airplane mode so you are not disturbed.
- Start by putting your phone down for 15 minutes in a day, then slowly advance to 30 minutes and gradually go on for a whole day during the weekend, without using phone.
What Happens During Digital Detox?
The effects of digital detox are there for everyone to see:
- People start looking forward and not bend down into their phones. The body posture is better as it opens up the front of the body and pushes back the shoulders, realigning the back of the head to the spine.
- Our brain is able to process and store information easily; hence improving mental functioning undistracted by the technology.
- You enjoy sound sleep.
- Better eye contact.
- Less dependency on Google.
Unplug and detach yourself from your phone and other devices and witness the improvement in your health and overall wellbeing. Be a master, not a slave to technology.
