Seek Your Doctor’s Permission

If you have any health conditions, remember it’s your doctor who knows what is best for you. Hence its best that you should consult with your doctor and fast get your tests done if prescribed by the health expert and then go for the special fasting.

Listen To Your Body

Karva Chauth fasting is different from another fasting as it doesn’t allow you to drink water, this can increase the chances of dehydration. Hence prior to fast, i.e. before sunrise make sure you take enough fluid in forms of water and milk. Despite that, if you feel nauseous, dizzy, giddy or any other health complications – consult a medical practitioner immediately.

Have Nutritious Food Before Sunrise

Sargi or pre-sunrise meal holds a lot of significance in this fast. However, you should make healthier eating choices while observing this fast to endure better. Ensure you include fresh fruits, coconut water, and whole-grain food items to keep your energy levels up. Abstain from eating high-calorie food items, sweets or caffeine-based beverages.

Keep Yourself Diverted

The majority of the time it is not the food, but the thought of eating food that makes you crave it. Try to divert yourself by being in the company of family or friends. You may go to a gathering with friends or have a house party to spend some time with. Keeping yourself engaged may help you forget about your hunger issues.

Keep Yourself Relaxed And Composed

When you have specific health conditions, your body functions differently than normal. And while fasting when your body will not be fuelled properly, you must conserve your energy. Do not involve in strenuous activity or do any overactivity. Stay relaxed and mildly active and save your energy, which may assist you last through the day. You can listen to some music, read a book or do any activity where you may not suppose to exert or strain yourself physically.

Be Prepared For The Changes

Sometimes things may not go the way you planned them, and it is absolutely normal if that happens. The same logic applies here, even after your doctor gives you a thumbs up to go ahead with the fast and you feel that you might not be able to sustain through the day without food and water. You should listen to your body and go ahead and do what your body needs you to do. If you wish to eat, make sure you do it. Eat sufficient fruits, nuts, milk, or juice and keep your energy levels optimal.

It is vital to understand that you must not follow the religious practices blindly and without paying any attention to your health. Therefore, if you feel that your health permits and you have the will-power to observe Karva Chauth fast, you can do so after getting consent from your doctor.
