A manager’s job is to use the unique potential of each employee in enhancing productivity and better customer service. Infinitely, good Managers find ways to boost the employee engagements. More often, the disengaged employees go into a negative frame of mind, impeding teamwork and productivity. Interestingly, a survey in the USA highlights, that 63% of workers are not engaged in their jobs.

Ways to boost employee engagement

Engaging employees is the key every manager wants to hold, but before that, they need information on few important points.

  • Set Goals together

The manager should take the employees in confidence and engage them on a common platform. Share the vision and set project goals involving them and using their inputs in the business plan.  Each employee must understand the plan and the assigned role.

  • Engage them on basis of your expectations

The unclear assignment is one issue that disengages employees in many instances. Everyone should know what their task is and be answerable towards that when probed for the feedback. Normally, most of the employees like to perform to the best of their abilities. However, only when they are given a specific task individually.

  • Engage them through accolades

The motivation tools for the employees can be effective in most cases. The money is an important gift to offer on handling a job well. However, the recognition and accolades in the shape of appreciation letters and mementoes work well for their morale.

  • Make them your work associates

Ask employees to share their specific creative ideas, analyze them and try to implement the right ideas in your plan. This will enhance their engagements. Try to shun micromanagement and make them more responsible to take their own decisions.

A monthly assessment of performance is a good idea to judge and boost every employee’s engagement. A manager would know all about their employees’ standing to fine-tune for enhanced engagements.
