One of the things which you may see nowadays that people have started to opt for several supplements. Though supplements can provide benefits, still it is something that cannot be compared with eating nutritional foods, especially the green leafy vegetables.  

In this article, Nutritionist and Dietician Avni Kaul says green leafy vegetables have lots of vitamins, minerals, and disease countering active components. They are high in fibre, which assists in digestion and keeps one full for a longer period of time, hence assisting in weight loss. Fibre also lowers the absorption of carbohydrates hence manages blood sugar levels. Green leafy vegetables ensure one has beautiful skin and hair.

Vegetables like kale are rich in calcium, which ensures strong teeth and bones.

Antioxidants like vitamin C, lutein and zeaxanthin in green leafy vegetables decrease the risk of cataracts and muscular degeneration and even protect from various diseases. Vitamin C in green leafy vegetables also lowers the risk of arthritis and bone fractures.

Vegetables that have beta-carotene, like the spinach, helps in the growth and repair of body tissues.

Green leafy vegetables are a good source of folate, that can reduce your risk of cardiovascular diseases and memory loss and also warding off depression.

Vitamin E available in green leafy vegetables works with vitamin C to make skin healthy as you age. This vitamin also assists protect your skin from the sun damaging rays and can help reduce the risk of cataracts and mascular degeneration.

To avail the complete benefits, eat at least 5 servings of vegetables regularly, including greens.
