Sleeping on the job is no longer a taboo.  In fact, more and more companies are motivating and allowing their employees to take a nap while at work.  Businesses realize the importance of sleep. They understand the effects of lack of sleep on the employees. As per a study, lack of sleep costs the United States $63 billion each year in lost productivity. A short nap can help boost alertness and improve the performance.

Nap to work better

Companies are coming up with innovative methods to ensure employee wellness and happiness.  The employees can use a room with a bed and pillows to take a nap while at the office.  Some companies even offer nap rooms to their employees. The room has the couch, recliners, and beanbag chairs to rest, available 24/7 for employees.  This is especially helpful for people working in the night shift.

There are other precedents, where employees have tranquil rooms where they can meditate or nap during the day.  Futuristic looking Nap pods, which are sophisticated lounge chairs, playing relaxing music for employees to take a quick nap, are in use at Google offices.

The powerful 20-minute snooze or nap can do wonders to enhance the overall productivity of the employee.  The overall health, wellness, and happiness quotient of the employee also increases.  It helps in boosting the morale of the employee.  Employers have realized this and are attempting to embrace it. Both the company and employees benefit from this.

Employee’s well-being zones are present in Nikes, Unilever, Zappo, and Huffington Post to name a few. Here one can enjoy nap and benefit from other health-related activities.

Final words- Is Napping good for you at Work?

Yes, it is.  Many leading companies apply different innovative methods to make sure their employees keep fine when in office.  All the above instances are proof that both the employers and employee have come to realize the importance of nap. The lack of sleeplessness affects their work. Hence, they are working in a positive direction to overcome these issues to raise their productivity.
