How to Lower Uric Acid in 7 Days With These Proven Foods

Uric acid is a natural waste formed from the digestion of foods that contain purines. Purines are present at high levels in some foods like dried beans, beer, and certain meats.

Nutritionist Avni Kaul says purines are also formed and broken down in our bodies.

Generally, the body filters out uric acid through the kidneys and in the urine. If you consume excessive purine in your diet, or if your body cannot get rid of this by-product rapidly enough, uric acid can build up in your blood.

A high uric acid level is called hyperuricemia. This can lead to a disease known as gout that causes painful joints that accrue urate crystals. It also makes your blood and urine too acidic.

In this article, Nutritionist and Dietitian Avni Kaul talks about foods that reduce uric acid. Here they are.

Apples

Add apples in your diet. Since they are filled with malic acid, they neutralize uric acid in the bloodstream. This gives relief to patients who suffer from high uric acid conditions.

Juice From French Beans

Drinking extracted juice from French beans are a great home remedy to treat gout. This healthy juice must be consumed twice a day as it stops the production of high uric acid in the blood.

Water

One more reason to have adequate water for the entire day. Water helps in removing out toxins from the body including the additional presence of uric acid. So have a minimum of 8 to 9 glasses of water per day.

Cherries

Cherries contain anti-inflammatory substances referred to as anthocyanins, it assists in lowering uric acid levels. They also prevent uric acid from getting crystallizing and deposited in the joints. Another reason you need to have cherries is they neutralize the acids and aids in preventing inflammation and pain.

Lime

As lime juice has citric acid, a solvent of uric acid, adding it to your regular diet is helpful in stopping high uric acid levels. Squeeze half of the lime juice in a glass of water and have it daily.

Vitamin C Rich Foods

Having foods filled with vitamin C is another way to balance uric acid levels. These foods disband uric acid and throw it out of the body. Include foods such as kiwi, amla (Indian Gooseberry), guava, oranges, tomato, and other green leafy vegetables.

Green Tea

To treat high uric acid, you should try to consume green tea every day. This aids in controlling hyperuricemia or high uric acid levels and also reduce the risk of developing gout.

Omega 3

Include omega 3 fatty acids in your diet. You can avail omega 3 fatty acids through flax-seeds, soyabeans, spinach, and walnuts as they help in reduce the swelling and inflammation.
