A healthy kidney is as important just like a healthy heart. A person suffering from kidney problems will tell you how difficult life can be when one’s kidneys are not fit to process daily body waste.

Nutritionist Avni Kaul says issues varying from difficulty in passing urine to swelling around the eyes, feet, and hands. Kidney failure is a disturbing problem hence to. Hence, it is of utmost importance to keep your kidneys healthy.

In this article, Delhi’s top nutritionist and dietitian Avni Kaul tells us to have these foods for a healthy kidney.

Red Capsicum

Red capsicums add flavor whether it is baked, roasted, or stuffed. Capsicums help to break down waste that is present in the blood, hence it is a perfect veggie for those who are suffering from kidney disease. But ensure it is red capsicum for kidney patients.

Cauliflower

The easiest way to prepare cauliflower is to boil it and add salt or pepper. But this flowery vegetable is an enemy for toxic compounds inside your body. The cauliflower is filled with indoles, glucosinolates, and thiocyanates that throws off all the toxic waste in your body.

Egg Whites

If you are suffering from kidney problems, you need protein with low phosphorus. This is when egg whites come into the act as these have healthy proteins and far less phosphorus as compared to other sources of protein. Bear in mind that people with kidney related problems must avoid egg yolks.

Cabbage

Cabbage forms a major ingredient for the most loved and relished Indian food. But this layered vegetable is a potent source for phytochemicals that reduces down free radicals, which damage the body and the skin. Raw cabbage is an ideal way to consume for those going through dialysis.

Juice

Fruit or vegetable juice, both have abilities to break down waste and flush them out. The juices, particularly vegetable juices have phytochemicals that are beneficial for those undergoing dialysis as they help prevent kidney failure. Fruit juices, like berries, are rich in antioxidants that avoid kidney related issues and improves overall kidney health. You can either have vegetable or fruits or squeeze them for their juices.
